Global Health and Agriculture R&D Perspectives

This project aims at fostering an informed and evidence-based debate on the role the EU can play in the future global research and development (R&D) landscape specifically in the domains of global health and agriculture for development R&D. The objective of the activities is to make the case for increased and improved EU investment, both as a stand-alone effort and even more in collaboration with Member States, associated countries, low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), international governmental organisations, private businesses, local actors and international philanthropies.   

The key activities carried out as part of this project include the scoping and analysing of the global health and agriculture R&D ecosystem; the collection, organisation and dissemination of thought pieces publishes as part of the ‘CEPS R&D Perspectives series’ from academic, policy and business leaders in relevant domains; and strategic policy engagement, and consensus-building among high-level influencers and institutions.

The activities aim at the following outcomes: i) Raise awareness of the importance of better and stronger EU investment in global health and agriculture R&D; ii)          Mobilise the scientific, institutional and business community as well as civil society on the need for stronger EU leadership and partnership on global health and agriculture R&D; iii) Propose meaningful reform in the architecture of EU global health and agriculture R&D and suggesting changes ahead of the future EU budget post-2028; iv) Consolidate thought leadership by aligning positions of major philanthropic actors on how the EU can achieve substantial progress in the global agenda on health and agriculture R&D.Global
