The objective of the project is to make an independent assessment of the role of forests, based on CEPS own research and discussions with relevant stakeholders.
The main output is a policy brief. Main themes are the trade-offs between forest- based products and sinks or biodiversity, issues of carbon accounting to calculate the environmental and carbon footprint and the contribution of the forest-based industry to GHG reductions, availability of clean energy sources including low-carbon electricity, sustainable supply chains or the availability of markets for low-carbon products.
