Christopher Fischer is a Research Fellow in the Global Governance, Regulation, Innovation and Digital Economy (GRID) Unit, working on Artificial Intelligence.
He is an expert in analysing and writing on impacts of complex new technologies, value chains, and framing their policy implications. For this, he has conducted stakeholder engagements with government officials, business representatives, and technology developers in various European countries. He is highly experienced in analysing and reporting on national and international industrial, innovation and technology policy, and in using statistics to illustrate particular aspects of economic and social realities.
He holds a Ph.D. in Law from the Max-Planck-Institute of Innovation and Competition, and a J.D. from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich (LMU). He has conducted research at Stanford University on a Fulbright Grant of the U.S. Department of State.
In prior functions he has worked for a London-based think tank, an investment fund, and a Magic Circle law firm.
He is fluent in English and German, and has working proficiency in French and Italian.
