Weinian Hu is a Research Fellow in the Regulatory Policy unit at CEPS.
Her research interests include EU-China trade relations (IPR, investment, geographical indications, public procurement, state-owned enterprises and competition) and multilateral EU-Asia relations. Weinian Hu holds degrees from Chinese, British and Belgian universities.
A Chinese national from Shanghai, Weinian’s career has bridged Asia and Europe in the areas of academia, diplomacy and industry. In addition to her academic pursuits in international trade law in general and patent law and intellectual property rights protection in particular, she has acquired extensive experience from working with a global bank in China, an inter-governmental organisation in Singapore, a non-governmental organisation in Malaysia and a leading public affairs agency in Belgium. She has also served as consultant and team leader for the European Union for coordination of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), the multilateral political dialogue process between Asian and the European regions.
