Mikkel Barslund

Research Fellow and Head of Ageing Societies Programme

Mikkel Barslund is the Head of the Ageing Societies Programme within the Economic Policy Unit. He leads a number of projects related to demographic ageing, labour mobility, migration and asylum (MEDAM), and is responsible for the CEPS Academy theme of mobility and migration. He is currently the principal investigator for the international research consortium FACTAGE financed by the Joint Programme Initiative ‘More Years – Better Lives’.    

Mikkel is coordinating activities under the ENEPRI network and is the CEPS editor of Intereconomics.

Prior to joining CEPS, he worked as a senior economist at the Danish Economic Councils and as a Research Fellow at KU Leuven.

Mikkel holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics from University of Copenhagen and an MSc from University College London.
