CEPS and Independent Diplomat cordially invite you to a special event on:
‘Syrian Civil Society’s Vision for a Future Syria’
About the Roundtable:
With the violence in Syria escalating and efforts to restart political negotiations stalled, Syria’s grassroots civil society organisations are working to develop a shared vision on how to solve the Syrian crisis and lay the basis for a future, democratic and pluralistic Syria. In this special roundtable discussion, the founders of several of Syria’s most dynamic civil society organizations will discuss their vision for a future Syria and the steps European policymakers can take to bring the conflict to an end.
Roundtable Participants:
Assaad Al Achi is Executive Director of Baytna, a leading grassroots institution fostering the Syrian civil society movement and promoting an inclusive and democratic future for all Syrians. A Syrian economist and civil society activist, Al Achi is also a founding member of the Local Coordination Committees in Syria and the Civil Society Geneva Declaration Initiative.
Mutasem Alsyufi is a Syrian activist and the soon to be Executive Director of The Day After – an organisation committed to achieving transitional justice in Syria and preparing for Syria’s transition to democratic, inclusive governance.
