In-person event

On the morning of 4 September, CEPS will convene a public event to launch a report summarising the work of a CEPS Task Force on ‘Next steps for EU law and regulation for the digital world’. The need for reform is urgent due to the exploding complexity of EU law and the consequent need for simplification, the need to strengthen EU productivity overall, and the increasingly tense geopolitical environment.

CEPS gathered a Task Force of knowledgeable industry stakeholders, academic experts and NGO representatives to think through what is needed to reform current and emerging EU digital laws (including GDPR, the DMA, DSA, Data Act, AI Act, and NIS2). We also discussed the Better Regulation process by means of which EU laws and regulations are designed, implemented, enforced, reviewed and enhanced over time, with a specific focus on the digital world.

We deliberated over the course of four full-day meetings that took place in January through April 2026. The report was prepared by its CEPS authors, but seeks to reflect as much as possible the discussions conducted in the course of the Task Force.
