The next European Council meeting takes place on 17 and 18 October. With the ongoing war in Ukraine, EU leaders will discuss developments on the frontline, military support, frozen Russian assets and Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.
As the situation in the Middle East further deteriorates, EU leaders will also look into a desired ceasefire in Gaza and on the Lebanese-Israeli border as well as the security situation in the Red Sea.
Given the recent challenges in the field of migration, the EU leaders will also touch upon strengthening control of the EU’s external borders and increasing and accelerating returns.
