Webinar

The second formal meeting of the European Council takes place on 29 and 30 June. War in Ukraine and security and defence will be some of the main topics discussed.

This members-only webinar will look at the latest developments in the war in Ukraine as well as continued financial and military support by the EU. A number of restrictive measures have been adopted against Russia since the beginning of the war and the EU member states have made available around €72 billion to Ukraine and its citizens.

Preceding the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius, the EU Member States will equally take stock of the progress made regarding the Versailles Declaration, in which leaders outline measures to strengthen the EU´s defence capabilities, and the Strategic Compass which draws a set of actions to help secure EU interests and protect European citizens at the same time. EU-NATO collaboration will also be discussed.

This event will be moderated by our CEO, Karel Lannoo, and the briefing will be made by CEPS´ Director of Research and Head of Foreign Policy Unit – Steven Blockmans and Sergio Carrera, Senior Research Fellow and Head of Justice and Home Affairs unit.
