Australia-EU cooperation to address climate change in the Pacific: ideas for the way forward

0

Climate change is an existential threat to the Pacific. While accounting for a very small percentage of global emissions, Pacific island countries are at the forefront of the fight to address the impacts of climate change. The importance of the Pacific region is increasingly recognised by the global community, including its significant expertise in traditional knowledge and climate thought leadership. In this panel event, senior Australian, Pacific and EU representatives will unpack some of the most pressing issues faced by Pacific Island countries, discuss current cooperation to address these issues and explore what more can be done, including through Australia’s bid to host COP31.

The panel discussion and Q&A will be followed by a cocktail reception.

This event is organised in cooperation with the Australian Embassy to Belgium & Luxembourg and Mission to the EU & NATO.
