More than fifteen years after the onset of its deepest financial crisis in modern history, and a decade after the EU referendum that marked a turning point in its relationship with Europe, Greece stands as a case of remarkable economic and political transformation. Having completed its adjustment programmes and exited enhanced surveillance, the country has re-emerged as one of the fastest-growing economies in the euro area.

This event will take stock of Greece’s journey from crisis management to sustained recovery. It will explore the lessons learned from fiscal consolidation and structural reforms, the challenges that remain in achieving long-term competitiveness and social cohesion, and Greece’s evolving role within the European Union at a time of renewed geopolitical and economic uncertainty.

Moderated by Cinzia Alcidi, Senior Research Fellow and Head of the Economic Policy and Jobs & Skills Units.
