After a 2024 dominated by elections, rising geopolitical tensions and several serious challenges that cannot be avoided, 2025 is already shaping up to be yet another year of turbulence. Almost daily, we’re seeing a ‘new normal’ starting to form. Navigating this fundamental shift as global geopolitics is realigned is no easy task and predicting in advance how global dynamics will shift and how to influence them is even more difficult.

That’s why, for its 12th edition from 3-4 March 2025, CEPS’ annual flagship event Ideas Lab once again brought together hundreds of speakers and participants from institutions, politics, academia and the private sector to discuss the myriad of policy challenges facing Europe – from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine to the inauguration of Donald Trump as US President, from increasingly complex trade and tech conundrums to the continued march of the climate crisis.

Like the previous two editions, Ideas Lab wasn’t just confined to the conference hall and breakout rooms – on the evening of Monday 3 March, we invited our guests to Brussels’ Plein Publiek venue for dinner, drinks and three fabulous immersive sessions, on AI Worlds, the Iranian Archive and the climate crisis.
