CEPS and APCO Worldwide invite you to a lunchtime panel debate on “Financial Regulation and Legislation – State of Play”. This event is to be held on the 29 June 2010 at the CEPS office in Brussels 13.315 – 14.30, with a sandwich lunch from 12.30.
The debate will focus on the way forward in establishing international consensus on financial regulatory reform. As experts agree that a revamp of the financial system needs to be global in nature to prevent a repeat of the worst financial crisis in over 70 years, divergences between the US plans for financial regulatory overhaul and the EU’s own reform agenda have become more and more evident. US authorities have expressed strong concern over EU rules on hedge funds and private equity and the way forward is all but clear. In addition, the proposed rules on OTC derivatives, the review of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) and the revised Capital Requirements Directive (CRD IV) will dominate the financial debate in the coming months and will shape to an extent the agenda of transatlantic relations for the years to come.
