Roberto Cortinovis is a Researcher in the Justice and Home Affairs Unit at CEPS.

Prior to joining CEPS, he was a Postdoctoral researcher in the department of Political Science at the Catholic University of Milan. He obtained a PhD from the same university in 2014 with a dissertation on the external dimension of EU migration policy. Roberto also holds an MSc in Government and Politics in the European Union from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

His research interests concern EU Justice and Home Affairs policies (migration and asylum, border control, return and readmission), with a focus on EU external action in these areas. He has published a number of academic and policy-oriented contributions on the above-mentioned topics.
