Nwamaka Ikenze is an Associate Researcher in the Energy, Resource & Climate Change Unit (ERCC) at CEPS, where she mainly focuses on complex policy and regulatory challenges related to circularity and sustainable resource use. With both a STEM background and broad training in law, ranging from international trade law to EU and US environmental law, Nwamaka is particularly interested in interdisciplinary perspectives. Prior to joining CEPS, Nwamaka held a range of positions in law and policy, including assistantships at the International Law Commission and the University of Michigan, as well as a clerkship at the Environmental Law Institute. She also worked as a design engineer at a Fortune 500 tech company.

Nwamaka holds an LLM in Comparative, European and International Laws from the European University Institute, a JD from the University of Michigan, and a BSc in Engineering Physics from Tulane University. She is also currently a PhD candidate in Law at the European University Institute, where her research focuses on synthesising the relationship between the circular economy in the EU and various areas of public and private law.
