Whether we like it or not, Donald Trump will be the 45th President of the (not so) United States of America for the next four years. In this CEPS Policy Insights paper, Andrea Renda calls upon readers to reflect on what this could imply for the United States and the rest of the world, including of course Europe. This may serve not only as a useful exercise for professionals engaged in political forecasting (there seems to be strong need to improve on that side too), but it may also trigger a first reflection on what academics, experts, intellectuals in the US and the rest of the world should do during the next few years to promote a fruitful, high quality, evidence-based policy debate.
Andrea Renda is Senior Research Fellow and Head of Regulatory Policy at CEPS and Senior Research Fellow at the Kenan Institute of Ethics, Duke University, Durham, NC.
With this contribution, CEPS is inaugurating a new publication series, CEPS Policy Insights, with the purpose of analysing a wide range of key policy questions facing Europe.
