This seminar, the first of the European Social Survey Policy Seminar Series, presents the results of the 2010 survey on Europeans' attitudes to the legitimacy of justice institutions – the police and courts. The seminar will consider the implications of survey results for criminal justice policy asking 'Does public trust in justice flow from people's contact with the police and their experience of procedural justice? Does trust in justice shape perceptions of institutional legitimacy? And does legitimacy affect compliance and cooperation with the police and the courts? Click here to see the programme.
