In-person High-level Seminar
The EU’s built environment needs to be decarbonised, but at the same time, housing needs to become more affordable. In her Political Guidelines, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has proposed a European Affordable Housing Plan. New housing can contribute to carbon reduction in multiple ways. For example, by reducing the need for heating and cooling through innovative materials, and through optimised design and planning. Alongside these socio-environmental targets, Europe seeks to safeguard its own materials industry to enhance resilience. This conference will follow-up on the discussions of the workshop in the morning and debate how an integrated housing policy can achieve important carbon savings while keeping housing affordable.
CEPS Construction Day is the first time that the work on future construction and innovative construction materials by CEPS and project partners, notably ReConstruct and Carbon Exit, will be discussed and presented in its entirety. It consists of two distinct events on the same day:
• A workshop where innovative projects and research will be presented and discussed with stakeholders.
• A high-level seminar focusing on the future of construction, whereby solutions to address life-cycle emissions will be discussed.
