Venue: Permanent Representation of Austria to the EU
Avenue de Cortenbergh 30, 1040 Brussels
The European building sector accounts for approx. 38% of the annual CO2-emissions. Therefore, the latest proposal, as part of the European Commission’s “Fit for 55” strategy, is to reduce emissions from the construction industry by 60% by 2030 compared to 2015 levels. The worrisome situation on the energy markets results in massive electricity price increases, which means a fight for survival for quite a number of European companies in the construction industry. Meanwhile, dealing with the current wave of inflation is also undermining industrial efforts to promote the decarbonization of the construction sector.
Against this background, we look forward to discussing this highly relevant topic with you and high-ranking, European representatives from the building materials industry and the real estate sector in the course of the upcoming panel discussion on the future of the European construction sector at the Permanent Representation of Austria to the EU. The Austrian Association of the Building Materials and Ceramic Industries and the Centre for European Policy Studies look forward welcoming you and kindly ask for your registration in advance.
