REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT IS NOW CLOSED
For some time now, Europe has been facing both intense internal pressures and complex external dilemmas. To help the EU move beyond these challenges and reflect on the opportunities that lie ahead, CEPS is launching a new series of events on the Future of Europe. The kick-off meeting takes place on 22 September 2017, with a lunchtime debate with Martin Selmayr, Head of Cabinet of the President of the European Commission. In a discussion with CEPS Director Daniel Gros, Mr Selmayr will take stock of the reflection process initiated by the Commission’s White Paper on the future of Europe and review President Juncker’s State of the Union speech, delivered on September 13th.
At subsequent meetings organised within the new Future of Europe series, politicians, high-level policymakers, academics and think tankers will discuss desirable objectives and possible actions in key policy areas, from the economy and euro area governance to social policy, migration, security and defence. These events will also address the EU’s institutional framework and its overall fitness for purpose, the EU’s financial framework and budget, and the fundamental values on which the EU is based.
