In-person event

On 1 January 2026, Cyprus will assume the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union, taking over from Denmark and concluding the current 18-month trio of Presidencies. It will continue the difficult task of navigating the Union through the many geopolitical and economic challenges facing Europe.

The next MFF, security and defence, Ukraine, enlargement, migration and competitiveness are expected to be on the agenda, which will be officially announced on 21 December by President Nikos Christodoulides. On 11 December, CEPS will welcome Ambassador Christina Rafti, Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the EU, to discuss with us these priorities.
