In a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape, EU enlargement has moved to the forefront of the Union’s strategic agenda. Ahead of the publication of the European Commission’s annual enlargement package, CEPS is honoured to welcome Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood, European Commission, Ambassador Petar Marković (Montenegro), Ambassador Ferit Hoxha (Albania), Ambassador Daniela Morari (Moldova), Ambassador Agron Bajrami (Kosovo) and Deputy Ambassador Oksana Diakun (Ukraine).
Moving beyond technical assessments of compliance with the EU acquis, this high-level discussion will focus on broader strategic questions: What are the strategic priorities of the candidate countries in joining the EU?; How can enlargement strengthen European security, prosperity and resilience, and reinforce the EU’s geopolitical position?; and How should the EU organise the pre-accession process so as to meet those strategic interests?
A sandwich lunch will be served from 12:15
