One year after the Russian invasion: short- and long-term challenges

0

A year has passed since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. What further challenges does the war present for the Swedish presidency of the Council of the EU and for the EU in the long term? Lars Danielsson, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sweden to the European Union will hold a keynote speech on this topic.

The war in the EU’s immediate neighborhood has brought exceptional challenges, but also an unexpectedly unified EU response. In the coming months and years, humanitarian, financial and military support will continue to be urgently needed as will efforts towards the rebuilding of Ukraine. The war has also altered the discussions on the future of the Union, bringing to the fore issues related to both broadening and deepening.

The Swedish Presidency has vowed to promote a continued active and united EU response to counteract Russia’s aggression and to support Ukraine. But what are the challenges and obstacles on the way?

This webinar is co-hosted by SIEPS and leading Brussels think tank CEPS.
