Momentum for Moldova: exploring the next steps for EU integration

In person event

The publication of the European Commission’s 2025 Enlargement Package, together with the outcome of Moldova’s parliamentary elections on 28 September, marks a decisive moment in the country’s European integration path. With a majority of voters backing pro-European parties and the governing party securing more than half of the votes, Moldova now enjoys a strong political mandate to accelerate reforms and implement its EU integration action plan.

Against this backdrop, this event will provide a forward-looking and policy-oriented exchange on Moldova’s reform trajectory, the key takeaways from the 2025 Enlargement Package, and the role of EU institutions in maintaining reform momentum and public support for accession.

Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General of DG ENEST, and Cristina Gherasimov, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, will share their perspectives from Brussels and Chișinău on the findings of the 2025 report, the next steps on Moldova’s reform and negotiation agenda, and the strategic direction of the country’s EU membership.
