The first formal meeting of the European Council takes place on 23 and 24 March. Following up on the previous Summits in December 2022 and February 2023, competitiveness and energy will be some of the main topics discussed.
This members-only webinar will explore Europe´s long-term strategy to boost competitiveness and productivity, as well as how to harness the full potential of the single market. A set of proposals related to the green and digital transition, such as the European critical raw materials act, a net-zero industry act, and a revised state aid framework will also be touched upon.
The webinar will also debrief on high energy prices, reduction of gas demand, ensuring the security of supply, and phasing out dependency on Russian fossil fuels. Decisions regarding preparedness and contingency planning for the upcoming winter and future seasons will also be discussed.
This event will be hosted by our in-house experts – Andreas Kopp, Senior Research Fellow in the GRID unit, and Milan Elkerbout, Head of the climate policy programme in the Environment, Climate Change and Resources unit.
