In-person event
EU policy increasingly pushes for better traceability and transparency in value chains in order to implement the circular economy. After batteries, textiles will be among the first product groups for which the use of a Digital Product Passport (DPP) will be a legal requirement. As a central digital and policy tool, the DPP is expected to revolutionise the way product-related data is collected and shared across supply chains. Still, open questions remain on both the potential benefits of a DPP for textiles and the challenges companies might face in its implementation. The objective of this event is to discuss the potential of the DPP to enable more traceable, transparent and sustainable textile recycling value chains. Questions to be addressed include: (a) What challenges can be foreseen in the implementation of the DPP for textiles based on existing pilots across the EU? (b) What are the main data priorities to facilitate textile recycling and how can we overcome data sharing complexities across textile supply chains? (c) How should the upcoming EU legislation address these issues?
