In-person event:
On 5 July 2022, the European Commission published the New European Innovation Agenda (NEIA), which aims to position Europe at the forefront of the new wave of deep tech innovation and start-ups. NEIA will contribute to delivering on the opportunities offered by the twin transition and help Europe develop and bring to the market new technologies to address the most pressing societal challenges. More specifically, the NEIA sets out 25 dedicated actions under five flagships:
- Improving access to finance for deep-tech scale-ups.
- Establishing framework conditions for deep-tech innovation.
- Promoting innovation ecosystems and tackling the innovation divide across the EU.
- Fostering, attracting, and retaining deep-tech talents.
- Improving innovation policies at the EU and national level.
About one year after NEIA’s adoption, where does the EU stand with its implementation? In September 2023, the European Commission published a list of actions that EU Member States and Associated countries are carrying out to support the NEIA. The list includes 169 actions reported by 20 countries.
The event will discuss possible additional actions that could transform Europe into a global leader in deep-tech innovation. How can national investors in venture capital contribute to NEIA objectives? Can they improve access to finance for deep-tech start-ups and provide later stage venture capital financing? What is their role in bridging the innovation divide between EU countries?
The event will be followed by a networking cocktail
