In-person/broadcast on YouTube event:
In light of the recent crisis involving Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and Credit Suisse (CS), the robustness of the crisis management frameworks in both the US and Switzerland has come under scrutiny. The subsequent discussions have ignited calls to strengthen the banking Basel regulatory framework and to complete the European Banking Union (EBU). Notably, while two pillars of the EBU – the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) and the Single Resolution Mechanism (SRM) – have been established, the European Deposit Insurance System (EDIS) remains on the drawing board.
In an era marked by recurrent banking crises and the transformative impact of open finance and digital currency on traditional banking, amidst the emerging risks, it’s imperative that our approaches to bank regulation and crisis management evolve and adapt.
The invited high-level panellists, with their wealth of knowledge and expertise, will dissect past events to glean crucial lessons and discuss the potential pathways forward. This discussion is not just about understanding the intricacies of bank regulation and crisis management but also about envisioning a proactive and fortified banking system that’s prepared for the uncertainties of the future.
