In-person event

Over a decade after first coining the Brussels Effect, Columbia Law Professor Anu Bradford has published a thought-provoking follow-up with her latest book, “Digital Empires: The Global Battle to Regulate Technology.” Through an assessment of the United States, China and the European Union’s respective efforts to regulate technology, Anu Bradford explores the ongoing push-and-pull between the three dominant digital powers and how their competing regulatory approaches and tech companies are colliding in the international domain.

Bringing together academic, think tank and institutional perspectives, this event aims to generate a discussion on the key issues and questions raised by Digital Empires and explore the implications of Anu Bradford’s newest work. After a brief overview provided by Anu Bradford herself, discussants will engage in a lively debate on tech regulation, competition, and the future of relations between the United States, China and the EU in light of this growing regulatory rivalry.
