In-person event
Introducing the Battery Passport under the EU Batteries Regulation in February 2027 marks a significant step towards greater transparency, sustainability and accountability across the battery value chain. This event will examine the key challenges and opportunities arising from the Battery Passport’s implementation, specifically on the practical implications for industry and stakeholders. Through a multistakeholder exchange co-hosted by the Global Battery Alliance (GBA) and Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), and co-convened with ReCharge, participants will share perspectives on readiness, identify common challenges, and explore potential pathways to tackle them through interoperable and scalable frameworks.
The event will build a shared understanding of the tools and opportunities offered by the GBA’s Battery Passport to prepare stakeholders to implement the EU Batteries Regulation. The discussion will draw on a new GBA White Paper which presents the Battery Passport as an instrument to facilitate compliance with the EU Batteries Regulation’s requirements. These include due diligence, traceability and carbon footprint declaration and they would be supported by data assurance to prepare for verification, the cross-recognition of existing schemes, digital interoperability and safeguarding data confidentiality.
The event is organised jointly by the Global Battery Alliance, CEPS and RECHARGE.
