EU-Asia digital relations: deepening cooperation in an era of strategic realignment

CEPS is pleased to launch its research report on EU-Asia digital partnerships, focusing on prospects for EU-Asian digital cooperation. The report is the outcome of a project which was funded by the Taipei Representative Office, featuring insights from various interviews with policymakers, diplomats, business stakeholders and researchers from Brussels, Taipei, Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore and New Delhi.

The global digital and technology landscape is being rapidly reshaped by great power competition, transforming alliances and a growing realisation that the digital future cannot be secured alone. The EU’s International Digital Strategy, published in June 2025, responds by focusing on partnerships with like-minded Asian tech powers, especially Japan, South Korea and Singapore, while also expanding cooperation with India through the EU-India Trade and Technology Council. This raises the question: how well do these partnerships deliver in practice, and where do they fall short?

This event will continue the debate on EU-Asian partnerships from the report and bring together perspectives from European and Asian policymakers, the European Commission and academic experts to discuss the report’s findings and explore concrete next steps.
