Building on a successful first round of stakeholder engagement, the Horizon Europe projects AMIGDALA and TRANSIENCE have reached important milestones in their research on pathways towards a sustainable, efficient, and competitive European industry. As such, they are pleased to host a second joint engagement workshop, which will once again bring together key policy and industry representatives to present results and collect feedback and further input.

The event will be structured around two dedicated sessions.

The first session will provide an opportunity for the projects to present their progress in developing new instrumental capabilities for integrated assessments of European industry. It will then open the floor for discussion with and feedback from the European Commission, the A.SPIRE Association, and other stakeholders, towards refining the projects’ direction and ensuring they remain well aligned with European policy and industry priorities and expectations.

The second session will adopt a participatory workshop format to collect sectoral perspectives on how circular economy and decarbonisation measures can enhance the efficiency of European industrial systems, focusing in particular on the plastics and steel sectors. Participants will discuss, in two dedicated breakout groups, the potential impacts of specific circularity cases—namely in plastics packaging and passenger vehicles—on material flows, recycling potentials within the EU, and their linkages to global trade flows. The objective is to identify key drivers and barriers for targeted circularity interventions as well as validate modelling assumptions, providing direct input to the projects’ case studies and modelling work.
