Luca Nipius is a Researcher at the Energy, Resources & Climate Change Unit. At CEPS, Luca’s work primarily focuses on industrial decarbonisation, the circular economy, emission trading, and the built environment.
Emission trading: Luca has worked on the working of the EU ETS, the role of CBAM, as well as international carbon crediting schemes.
The built environment: Luca’s work focuses on the overall decarbonization of the sector, specifically through policy options for sufficiency, the whole life carbon approach, and carbon storage in buildings.
Circular economy: Projects that Luca has been part of focused on the circularity of wood, the industries, and of critical raw materials.
Prior to joining CEPS, Luca obtained degrees in Liberal Arts & Sciences (BSc) at University College Utrecht and in Sustainable Development (MSc) at Utrecht University. During his studies, he focused on energy transitions and EU policymaking, acquiring a background in both physics and social sciences.
Luca is fluent in Dutch and English.
