Diplomacy

The unit's research agenda on EU Diplomacy hinges on two variables: i) the Lisbon Treaty's cosmopolitan worldview, the demand for a more integrated EU foreign policy, and institutional innovations in the field of EU external action; and ii) the role of EU on the international stage since its relative decline as a result of the economic and financial crisis, the rise of other powers and the strategic re-orientation of the United States towards the Asia-Pacific region.
