Launch of new event series devoted to the Future of Europe

At a time when the European project is under intense internal pressure and Europe’s role in the world is subject to external challenges, it is important to also look beyond the current state of affairs. CEPS is therefore launching in July a new series of events to reflect on what opportunities and developments lie ahead for Europe. The initiative takes note of the White Paper on the Future of Europe that was presented in March by European Commission President Jean-Claude Junker. The paper provides some indicative avenues for the development of further cooperation among the member states. In the course of the new event series on the “Future of Europe”, participants will discuss desirable objectives and possible actions in various policy areas, such as social policies, economic and monetary union and globalisation. They will also reflect on the adequacy of the general institutional framework and budget of the European Union. The Future of Europe initiative will start in July with several events, including a lunchtime debate with Martin Selmayr, Head of Cabinet of the President of the European Commission. Details to follow on the CEPS website.
