Cumulative Cost Assessment of the EU ceramics and glass industries
CEPS, in partnership with Ecorys Brussels and Economisti Associati, has been selected to carry out the Cumulative Cost Assessment (CCA) of the EU ceramics and glass industries by DG GROW. This study aims at identifying, assessing and, where possible, quantifying the cumulative costs generated by selected areas of EU legislation (e.g. energy, environment, climate, internal market and competition) on the two sectors over the period 2005-14. In addition, the research team will evaluate the impact of such regulatory costs on the cost structure and profitability of companies operating in the industry at hand as well as on their international competitiveness. To perform this assignment, CEPS researchers will rely on their expertise in assessing the costs of regulation and, more specifically, on their experience in two previous CCAs on the steel and aluminium industry carried out for DG ENTR in 2013. While the final report is expected to be completed in April 2017, a workshop to present the assignment to all the relevant stakeholders will be held at CEPS in April 2016.
