CEPS Ideas Lab 2016 - An EU fit for purpose?
Held on the 25th and 26th of February 2016, the third annual CEPS Ideas Lab was once again an overwhelming success, an event unlike any other in the crowded Brussels calendar. With over 100 speakers, more than 700 participants, and 52 nationalities represented, it managed to grow without losing its informal and inclusive nature.
The impressive list of speakers included: Ronald Plasterk, Minister of the Interior, The Netherlands; Kristalina Georgieva, Vice-President, European Commission; Ian Borg, Secretary of State for European Affairs, Malta; Marek Belka, Governor of the Central Bank, Poland; Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Member of the Danish Parliament; MEPs Sophie in 't Veld, György Schöpflin, Elly Schlein, and Ian Duncan; the BBC's Linda Yueh; Professors Andrew Moravcsik, Luuk van Middelaar, and Ivan Krastev; the chair of the High-Level Group on the EU Budget Mario Monti; former Commissioners Pascal Lamy, Joaquín Almunia, and László Andor; George Papandreou, former Prime Minister of Greece, and many others.
