Advancing European research on economic and fiscal policy
CEPS has joined the new European Network for Economic and Fiscal Policy Research (EconPol), which is led by the German CESIfo group (Center for Economic Studies, the ifo Institute and the Munich Society for the Promotion of Economic Research) and financed by the German Ministry of Finance. The network brings together institutes across the EU to cooperate on joint economic research projects.
The forthcoming publication by the European Commission of its reflection paper on the Future of EMU will be an opportune moment for the network to develop its own proposals for reforming EMU governance and the European fiscal framework. A pre-launch meeting of EconPol, with high-ranking EU officials, will take place at the end of June, where initial research findings will be discussed. The initiative will be officially launched at a public event to take place on 9-10 November 2017.
