DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES
The Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) Programme at CEPS examines the issues and dilemmas related to the construction of an Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (AFSJ) including the policy fields of migration, integration, asylum, fundamental rights, police and judicial cooperation, data protection and security policies. The Programme has a well-consolidated experience in the initiation, coordination and management of large-scale European research projects related to the AFSJ, as well as in the provision of external independent expertise to the EU institutions. It has been involved, both as coordinator and as a participant, in projects funded by the Sixth and Seventh Framework Research Programmes of the European Commission, as well as in framework contracts with the EU institutions (for instance DG HOME and DG JUST of the European Commission). The Programme also provides external expertise to the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE), the European Economic and Social Committee, the Committee of the Regions, the Fundamental Rights Agency as well as selected national parliaments. Finished and ongoing projects are listed in the "Projects" tab above.
