Anna-Elisabeth Thum, Ph.D. is specialized in research on skills and education. She is mainly interested in the role that non-cognitive (socio-emotional) skills play in education, on the labour market and for growth. She is also researching the design and functioning of education policies and practices.

Short bio: After graduating in economics from the University of Lausanne (HEC) and the University of Mannheim with a specialization in applied econometrics, she wrote her PhD on the role that personality plays for the labour market integration of immigrants in Germany at the European University Institute under the supervision of Professor Richard H. Spady (Johns Hopkins University) and Professor Jérôme Adda (University College London). In the past she has worked at the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research (NZIER), as a consultant at the OECD in the Department of Employment, Labour and Social Affairs and as a visiting scholar at ECARES (Université Libre de Bruxelles).
